Govt tells British minister not to meet King, other details

Kathmandu, 27 Sept: Visiting British Minister of State of the Foreign Office Dr Kim Howells said Wednesday he didn’t meet the King in reply to a question. "Government advised me not to meet the King," he told reporters. He said he didn’t meet Maoists also but for another reason. " I wouldn’t expect a visiting leader to meet the IRA," he explained. British Government will resume military supplies suspended after 1 February 2005 only after the restoration of a "democratic government", he said in reply to another question. The country, he said, is "awash with weapons".

The Chinese minister who visited Nepal last time was similarly barred from meeting the King by KP Oli.
