I need advice from those who have gone through the process of getting the NRN Citizenship in Nepal. The list of documents required to obtain an NRN Citizenship, among the others, says 'Nepali passport'. I had a Nepali passport but it is misplaced and I can not find it now. My Nepali passport was not used for a long time and had been expired The passport was issued in New York. Is surrendering of the Nepali passport mandatory or optional? If it is mandatory, what is the process of getting a 'lost passport' letter? Thank you in advance for your helpful input and your time.

There was a meeting with lawyers from imperial law few weeks ago and they said they are more lenient about ur case now a days and often make u sign that you lost it wont be using it in the future and move forward. Just about every friend and relative who have renounced their old nagarikta for the "NRN citizenship" have now expressed their regret.

Issues/laws/rules regarding banking, PAN card, drivers license, property purchase etc for the new NRN citizens were supposed to have been made clearer during the current parliamentary session, but as expected, the bulk of this session is being used up for "बाँडफाँड, सत्ता, एक अर्काको पोल खोल्ने, फाइल खोल्ने" etc etc.

NRNs had pinned their hopes on Mr Lamichhane who has had personal experience with Nagarikta issues, but he too is obviously busy fighting allegations of सहकारी ठगी .

Thamelean, if you are going to use ur old nagarikta then it's best not to go with nrn ctzp route at all. They make u renounce ur old ctzp and void ur records. Just don't bother with nrn ctzp till then.

ehho2, I am not buying or selling any land or house. I am transferring the title of a piece of land (ancestral property) in my name. As suggested by Sajalshakya, I will pass it for now.

NRN citizenship was mentioned for less than 2 minutes, and that too towards the tail end of the 26 minute video. Sadly there was nothing substantial - just flowery politician talk from Lamichhane ji. We have all heard such meaningless reassurances before.
