It has been my experience that pretty much everything is expensive in Nepal or Kathmandu to be exact as I don't know if that's the same in other parts of the country. However, people do not always get genuine and high quality products even though they pay a lot more. This is not limited to imported products. Even basic services or utilities are like that as well. It is really saddening.

Nepal is exp. bhayeko kura, sab kura inflate bhayeko cha, esp cause people are willing to pay any amount for it, if you know where to shop you'd prolly save couple of bucks, yet, i dont understand how ppl now can pretty much afford anything and everything!

Like this other day I went shopping regarding an exercise equipment. I went to this shopping complex near Sundhara. There was no greeting when I entered the shop, the shop owner or attendant was talking with someone in what appeared behind the counter; and when asked about the product, the answer I was given was that the thing that I was looking for will arrive in next shipping. Didn't bother to answer when the next shipping will be, like a time frame, price, etc. and when inquired few times, answers were not available or vague. The business owner then proceeded to talk with his friend or whomever. To state simply, there was no customer service, like to see if customers who came to spend their money were satisfied and would come back again. On top of that these shopping complexes charge money for parking as well, even for ten minutes parked. Don't they make enough profit with selling their merchandise?

In Nepal you have to dress well to show you have money.. You go shopping dress sharp, they will give you super customer service.. not like usa where even some rich people dress like they are poor.

Worst is land. Land/property in KTM is more expensive than in the US. Nepalese economy will collapse if market is not controlled soon.

Jerry bro

forget about customer service in Nepal. Even here in the US, Nepali restaurants and businesses operate like the nepali way. there is no customer service .

US ma pani "khaye kha nakhaye ghich" jasto chha. 1-2 ota nepali restaurant hunchha ani ki ta tyo business ma nai jana banda garnu paryo haina bhaney chup chap khanu paryo. nepali restaurants are run like BHATTI in the US.

parking ta thekka ma diyeko hunchha which is separate from the shops rented. also it is very hard to regulate the parking. anyone will come and park there so they have to charge some kind of fee. here in the US, land is abundant plus everyone has car and there are building codes, safety code that are strictly enforced so free parking is expected. but downtowns everywhere are ridiculous with their parking fees though!

dont be too polite in Nepal. Politeness works here in the US, not in Nepal. people will take your politeness as your weakness!
