Hi Friends,
I'm thinking of travelling to Nepal later in the summer and see my family after 4 years. I got hired last year and my H1b was approved without problems. My last semester got kinda effed up and I ended up getting a real low GPA, ~3.00. Will that be a problem when I travel to Nepal and face the consular ? Everything else is strong, I'm working at a large corporation with a full time job in my field of study. Hope you'll help me with some good answers.

Thanks,
Kari

Yes you may have some problem to obtain visa due to your poor performance in your last semester. Normally, you have to maintain 3.5 in every semester to obtain H1B visa when you intend to return to USA.

So....you are responsible for your poor performance.

I do not think your GPA will mater much now. Since your H1B is already approved, and have been working full time, there should not be

an issue. GAP would not  matter in real world, it is just for meeting minuimum standards.

Hi Bro,

You didn't mentioned whether you have received degree from your college or not i mean did you get the Certificate???
If you have received your Bachelor degree then there is no problem with the GPA as the requirement for H1b is you must have undergraduate degree and in master you cannot graduate with <3.00 GPA you have to repeat the course to raise your GPA.

So, there is no problem with GPA.Also, since you are working for large corporation as full time employee there is no problem with GPA.Make sure you do all the processing from USA before you leave for Nepal....otherwise they will keep you on hold for long time..i have seen some people waiting for 3-4 months for stamping and in which case your company cannot wait for you that long.]

Contact your company Lawyer via HR (in your large corporation company) and check with him if any of the employee from this company had troublem getting H1b stamped.

Good Luck

Nope there should be no problem.  Getting a Job is a lot harder than gettting a 3.0  or whatever they say...and since you got the hardest one solved, you are good to go!
