Its' not only doctors- many engineers, arts and humanities students, sciences and commerce students and even lecturers and top level govt officials are in US for job. It is the same case as for people from other countries like India and China to mention two. Man you know, it is a land of opportunities and of course money and fame, why should any one not think of it if one has the capability. Yes many get job in Nepal. But it is better in US. Many served their country for many years, still remained temporary and unsecured. Forget it man, get back to work. Saral

Ya Kabinkale, here is a thing. In Nepal look @ the situation in hospitals. The fuken stupid administrative staff and other BS staff arew so powerful (politcally connected) that the doctors are like pice of thrash over there specially the new ones. Ya work there. Get frustrated. See the poor people dying. See the poor people who has cancer and do not even know. Thinks they are sick because they did not have a good diet. So what a doc supposed to do?? YA prescribe medicine, the patients cannot even buy. Its a never ending situation because of the poltical bueracracy over in the hopitals. Thats in KTM. In the villages ya ur uncle Mao might come to visit ya and abduct ya. Thats the situation outside KTM. So what ya gonna do than to abandon the ship??? Be a economic refugee. Pay for the country from outside. peace out

Most of the people would like to go back but they already spent a lot of money for their study. It's not possible in nepal to get their money back within 2-3 years. They wants to get their money back before do anything. They would go back. Don't even worry about it.

KabinKale, I have answer for all of your query. HY ALL NEPALESE DOCTOR IN U.S.A.? Not all, Only 300-400 doctors are in USA as of now who are trying their best to get into residency by passing USMLE exam and it is not easy cake. There are around 50 certfied Neplese doctors currently working in USA and they are definately in better condition than their counterpart in Nepal and they are united to help and improve medical facility in Nepal. DON,T WE NEED THEM IN NEPAL? Of course we need them in Nepal and there is global shortage of doctors irrespective of the country. However, the carreer seems to be hopeless in Nepal because of ongoing conflict and almost every doctors trying hard to write USMLE or PLAB.Moreover, it is not the doctors alone or any professional can improve the situation of country, it is the policy makers which makes the difference of normal people's life and you know the fact about Nepal , one gets job by knowing somebody who knows somebody .If one does not have proper approach, they dont even get chance to do internship on time and for that some time they have to wait years. More over they have to work as volunteer without pay even after internship. I knos some of my friend who were doing 1 yr volunteer and they got job. Later I advised him to write USMLE and apply for residency. Now he is doing his residency in USA and in final year and there is bright career waiting for him ahead. DON,T THEY GET JOB IN NEPAL? Not all get job in Nepal. there are around 400 doctors passing out every year and there is hardly 150 doctors geting proper placement, Most of them wont like to go to remote. If we have a policy like qouta from every village ( 4300 VDC approx in Nepal) for the medical seat and mandatory service for that village, might help to cover wide geographics in Nepal. Only those can study medical in Nepal who can spend approx NRs 1 million and most of the doctors( 80 % ) are self financed . Now you do the math, these 80% would like to go to village and server the poor and country or would like to seek bright career and make money. GOVERMENT NEEDS NEW RULES FOR THEM? I MEAN TO SERVE COUNTRY FOR 5 YRS LIKE. First try making Nepal as demorepublic where people govern the people and they make their policy and decide their fate. The root cause of this situation is poor government policy from last 200 yrs. why you and me are in USA and every body trying hard to come to USA even some being illegal. Dream the rule and policy where other can dream of going to Nepal rather being dreaming to come to USA You know the history o both f American and Nepal. DON,T THEY GET NICE GIRL IN NEPAL? Dude, I dont have answer for this. I beleive all Nepali gals are beutiful by heart and soul. ACHHAMMA CHA ALL DOCTORS IN U.S.A Dont be more " ACHHAMMA" as there are more doctors comming to USA on comming years DHARAN KO FREE PRODUCT TA EVERY YEAR ALL PRODUCT ...ACHHAMMA CAH I could not get this one. If you need more info about doctors, you can post query Thanks

Superuser You sound like a knowledgable person and know about the doctors pretty well. I assume you are a doctor too. Its good to know that doctors abroad are uniting for development in health field. With your answers, I concluded, the Doctors produced in Nepal are more concerned about their betterment and self interest only by blaming upon the political and socioeconomic situation in Nepal. I understand, some of the medical schools in Nepal are specifically targetted for that kind of products only. You wrote: Only those can study medical in Nepal who can spend approx NRs 1 million and most of the doctors( 80 % ) are self financed . Its a shame that 80% of the rich can become doctors while other with better brains are forced to choose different path in the world with global shortage of medical professionals simply because thier parents did not have the 1 million rupees. Does it mean that you study medicine and become doctor and try to get back the money they have invested? Is Medical Profession a Business ? How do you explain the loss incurred by Nepal because of thier migration ?

I think, for the betterment of Nepal the Ex-Nepali doctors should try to influence or try to make legislations for the betterment of the beurocracy than fleeing Nepal. super user, I need one more math.. How much does a poor country like Nepal invests on a person to make him a doctor in private institutions and govt. supported college like Teaching Hospital.

Dear chicken little, Sorry for late in reply and appriciate your patriotism and hats off to your wish of making better and secure nepal. Thats the spirit all Nepali should have irrespective of living anywhere in the world. I am not doctors but I have some network of friends who are doctors and I have watched very closely their fall and rise in USA starting from their struggle to come up in life. Now comming to your query. "You sound like a knowledgable person and know about the doctors pretty well. I assume you are a doctor too. Its good to know that doctors abroad are uniting for development in health field" Not at all, Just had little idea so wanted to share with dear Sajhaite Nepalese fellow. professional but not in medical field.Every doctors wants to contribute in someway to Nepal.eg http://www.anmf.net/ "With your answers, I concluded, the Doctors produced in Nepal are more concerned about their betterment and self interest only by blaming upon the political and socioeconomic situation in Nepal" Not all doctors, dear, however 70-80% who studied in self finance and capitalist background are comming under your above statement. "I understand, some of the medical schools in Nepal are specifically targetted for that kind of products only" Your are absolutely right, except few gov medical institution, all private medical college falls under this category. some of medical institution does not even have proper infrastructure and gov has tried revoking their validation couple of times despite they are running because of political or palace connection.Hope in comming days, situation will improve. "Only those can study medical in Nepal who can spend approx NRs 1 million and most of the doctors( 80 % ) are self financed " "Its a shame that 80% of the rich can become doctors while other with better brains are forced to choose different path in the world with global shortage of medical professionals simply because thier parents did not have the 1 million rupees". And your realistic comment is worth million Thats the reason I have suggested bellow on my statement on my previous post "If we have a policy like qouta from every village ( 4300 VDC approx in Nepal) for the medical seat and mandatory service for that village, might help to cover wide geographics in Nepal. "Does it mean that you study medicine and become doctor and try to get back the money they have invested? Dear, I have already clarified, I am not doctors hence above statement does not imply on me. Regarding medical profession business? It is not supposed to be.Every doctors take oath saying they will keep the pateint interrest above all means. But does it happen in reality ? In USA itself,if gov does not have strict rules and regulation, it is one of the most lucrative never ending business. Else million of dollars law suit for doctors and pharma company would not have been filling every year. "How do you explain the loss incurred by Nepal because of thier migration " Oh! this brain drainage? it is not only country specific issue, it global phenomenon and it is growing alarmingly their by making the developed country more super power and developing country making more poorer. This need to be address globaly and probably UN should have some kind of resolution. But dear, if you stop this migration, they will complain about human rights and rights of living. And migration is considered as one of the key for the mankind evolution and development. The best way is to make Nepal better than USA hence reverse brain drainage starts and you know it very well how it is possible. "How much does a poor country like Nepal invests on a person to make him a doctor in private institutions and govt. supported college like Teaching Hospital" It is approx NRs 2.5 million if it is accounted till one becomes MD " All the best and thanks

I strongly believe that, on the long run, the migration of skilled people benefit Nepal. On the short run, however, it seems highly detrimental to the development of Nepal. Presently, India and China are reaping tremendous benefits from migration of of thier people who migrated 4/5 decades ago. And yeah, why should MD's not migrate? Yearly salary for a MD starts around 150K.. let everyone thrive.
