i am planning to apply for reinstatement but not sure if it will get approved, since its more than 5 months, you need solid reason to get approved....i am planning to use a mental health having a therpaist letter why i took off, but still not sure if that will be enough....i already got approved for University and i started taking classes, but kinda scared if USCIS will approve it.......two of my friends got approved after 4 years and 1 year gap, one had medical issue and said as long as you were in TPS it shouldnt be problem....but another friend got rejected, he had 1 year gap...so not sure Last edited: 19-Jan-25 11:34 AM

Thank you for sharing. You already started going to classes but have not started the process with USCIS? Why? You said two of your fiends applied after 4 years and 1 year gap, what does it mean? Their visas were still valid? The one who got approved also has 1 year gap? How long did it take them to get their decisions and how long have they been living in the U.S.? What do you mean by as long as you in TPS is fine? Thank you in advance for answering!

I started attending classes to stay on track with my program and ensure I maintain full-time enrollment while preparing my F-1 reinstatement application. From this, i have my full time class schedule and a scholarship letter for this semester, so planning to submit these two as a supporting documents(class schedule+grad assitantship contract)....also a letter from DSO 2. meaning 1 of my friend was in TPS, then he dropped out of F1 for 4 years, and then he reinstated back to F1 after 4 year(he was in tps the whole time)...and another friend dropped out of F1 for 1 year, and he was also in TPS the whole time....it took them 6-12 months to get the decision.....and they have been living in US for like 10-14 years now.... 3. one of my friend who had 4 years gap, he said as long as you are in TPS and has some good reason, you dont have to worry about not getting approved....but he advised to use lawyer when filing reinstatement.....and another friend who had 1 year gap said you need a solid strong reason when applying for reinstatement

Thank you for the clarification! It's good that you have a scholarship, it is difficult to get a scholarship in California. It is expensive as an international student. Do you know if we can pay in-state tuition fee until the decision is made by USCIS because the current status is TPS? Let me know if you have any tips for applying/getting a scholarship, it will be very helpful.

@suggestions its kinda hard to get scholarship here as well, i had to bug so many professors, and finally got one...you have to be in full time as an international student since you are trying to go back to F1, USCIS has to know you are taking full time classes, and you will pay the international student fee....... for lawyers i am not sure as well, i am just looking around my area and see if i can find a good one... @hanuman1 you sound confident on that?? was he on TPS as well?? and he didnt provide any medical documents?? i have almost 1 and half year gap, so i am not sure if i will be approved by USCIS....cuz one of my friend got rejected and other 2 got approved

Thank you hanuman and username for the responses. What do you mean by bugging? I thought you always have to apply online. The processors can give a recommendation letter I guess. I wonder why your friend got rejected!

I thought if university accepts you than you good.Oh if it is more than one year than you need good documents. It was long time ago.may be you need lawyer who will help you fight back even if you are rejected. Don't loose your status after getting. Get loan from somebody ,be nurse or whatever and get a Job.dont do minimum wage job.If it was 10 yr ago than it was OK. Now there is huge inflation in nepal and everywhere .it's not worth it

@suggestions I went and met with graduate professors, mostly faculty coordinator and after that I keep emailing them to see if they have any, and I kept reminding them… All I know is that friend didn’t have strong convincing documents, so that’s the part I am scared and planning to use lawyer because of that…. @hanuman1 yeah if it was less than 5 months then it would be ok only with university, but more than 5 months USCIS needs some kind of evidence….since one of my friend got rejected, so I am planning to use lawyer….not sure if this will work, but let’s see….sucks that TPS has to end

@Kunj Bihari who are you? You should go behind 72-76% H-1 that are given to Indians. America has sufficient people who qualify and people who graduate from here they deserve it. How do you know TPS has been abused? Some people are just jealous and bitter who only want good things for yourself. People like that should go back to their country. Everybody wants a better life for themselves. Don't attack TPS holders, not everybody on TPS are illegal (it's a common sense).
