If ur father is multimulti-crore pati, its a good idea. If not, i seriously dont recommend coming here for undergraduate degree. Life is totally different from the one you see on facebook. Even if u get scholarship, its usually for 1-2 semesters. Your best option is to do bachelors of engineering in nepal/india and come here for grad school. Its my guess, but those who came here on gradschool, 90% are well settled with good jobs while those who came on undergrad, its less than 30% after > 8 years.

Fees will be anywhere from 7000-15000 for cheap universities for a semester. So 15000-30000 $ per year, provided you earn living cost working on side. If ur father can spend 20 lakh per yr, u can do it. Otherwise life will be 100 times harder than u imagined. 20 lakh ma ta u can easily get whole BE from nepal/india. In grad school u can get scholarship and TA/RA , so instead of having to pay a fee, u will get ~1500 per month. So u will be saving money. Ask not ur friends ( they mught be ashamed and tell u a lie) but people who have gone on grad school and done it.

Almost 50% undergrad students haru yaha status bachauna 5 din 12 ghanta dhoti ko ma kam garera 5-6 saal bitae raheko huncha ( i m not trying to mock anybody here, i m trying to give this bhai a genuine suggestion). Ani pass gare pachi pani, u get hardly sponsored for green card with undergrad degree. U have to go to grad school again. Timro yaha aunda lagne ko fraction paisa ma aram le nepal ma BE garna sakincha. So do BE from nepal and come for grad school. Grad school is only 1-1/2 to 2 yrs . You will feel bad for now, but it will be one of the biggest decision in life that u got right. Wish u all the best.

I agree with bairaghi bro. Life in the US is not like what people might show off on social sites. Especially if you come here for undergrad, chances are most likely you will get screwed. Unless you are a very talented student with a 100% scholarship and doesn't need to work off campus to support yourself, you're most welcome. But, with a 50% or so scholarship, please save yourself and invest the money back home, graduate, take the GRE and then apply for masters. But then again, what's left there in Nepal these days? :( I can understand the frustration of our youths of the nation. Explore the options. After all, you are the one to make your decision. Vir baat hamfalna lageko bachho lai Ram ram bhanna sakincha, kandho thapna sakindaina. If u r deciding ur life because of a couple of hundred dollars u have already spent, its your call. When u are here, thousands of dollars ta tesai jancha. Maile ta bhai lai genuine sujab diyeko. If u go thru BE in nepal and grad here path, ur chances of success is like >90%. If u come here in undergrad, chances of you passing with good degree and getting green card is <20% , thats also after yrs of really hard work. If i had a brother, I wont suggest him to cone here in undergrad. So think about it before its too late.

Bairagi is telling you the truth. Let me tell you my story, dude. I came here for undergrad in 2010 and haven't finished it yet. I am taking five classes in current semester and for sure I will fail a couple of them because I work about 55 hours a week on average. Dude, don't come here for undergrad. Go for BE in Nepal or India and then come her for ME.

I have to agree 100% with what bairaghi said. And this is coming from someone who did his bachelor and master from US. If you need an honest advice: Do your bachelor from Nepal and then come to US for master if you really want to. Do not worry about RS 50-70 thousand you have invested so far. If you come to US for undergrad you will waste more $$$ and years of your life than what you have invested so far. I wish I would have listened to my mom when she asked me to forget about all the expenses and not to go to US after I already have gotten my student visa (I came from middle class. Took me almost 10 years to get where I am now and I am the luckiest of 30+ Nepalese students who started at same university for bachelors degree). Bottom line: Don't come for bachelors if you are serious about your life and career. If you just want to party, have fun, and just want to be in US like majority of Nepalese I have known then do as you please.

only exception is if you have mom/dad or immediate brother/sister here. if they are here, they can guide you and also give you $10,000 like its nothing whenever you need money. even then life will hard, but chances of your success will be high. otherwise its a big NO.

All these guys suggesting you are from South, mostly TX. Come to Northern States, you wont have any such problems. There are hundred of my friends studying like that. It is tough but you can make enough money to get your under grad done. You wont have to work in gas stations here. If you only come for grad school you are missing whole lot of fun, social life and making friends and understanding American society as a young person.

Yeah life gonna be challenging but I don't think its easy anywhere.I don't know where these people got idea of being crore pati to study in USA. I came USA with $2,500 in my pocket and finished my Undergraduate in 5 yrs with $0 loan. Once u come here u can transfer to the college that offer scholarship and finish your bachelors in few thousands dollars.Life is fun , challenging and exciting in the USA.

Finished my undergrad in 5 years with $0 in loan and 48 credit hours master degree in 18 months with $0 loan. Now waiting to get GC and planning to start 2nd master degree that is probably the most valued degree across the entire globe (yes more valued and challenging than any PHDs- not going to mention more about it to remain anonymous). My suggestion was based on the fact that his life will be comparatively very easy if enrolls at US university for grad than undergrad. Rest, I will let him decide.

Looking at the data I find 10% people doing good academically among those who come to study Undergraduate. It is not worth it. Stay in Nepal, study Bachelors there. There are great colleges there. You can come for Masters in few years if you really want to come here. Life would be so much easier for you and you will do great. Talking about be, I finished my plus 2 about 9 years back. I was one of the top 10 students in NIST ( among 800 people). But I wasted a year to apply and come here. I finally came here with big dreams and very high expectations. It was nothing like that within a year. Working 30 40 hours and taking 15-18 hours a semester is not a joke. It takes toll physically, mentally and socially. I miss my relatives, parents and a beautiful country I left behind. I look at pictures of my friends in Nepal, they might not be driving cars, they might be struggling to get a liter of petrol, struggling to get power 8 hours a day but that is a good life. When you are with your loved ones and you have a place to live, and a good meal, that's the best thing in the world. I have been 7 and half years and all of those years have been in pain. Take it as a brotherly advice. I BLOCKED my own sisters intention to come to US and she is happy doing BE in Nepal and almost done. I and people like me who are telling you here just want you to have a easy life, just want you to be with your family and friends, just want you and our younger generations to do good in life. We are here doesn't mean we are making a fortune or happy in life. I am returning to Nepal soon (permanently) and who knows may be I will see you there?

Joined United States army already have my American citizenship.1and half years left to finish my army contract. Planning to go to Standford or MIT for Masters because my Military GI bill will cover my tuition, books and living expenses worth of approximately $80K. @bairaghi, Don't think military personnel are uneducated guys.You have to have at least bachelors or masters to become army officers. To be honest I joined army to get American citizenship.and yeah most people join army for reasons. After I graduated I didn't want to go for consultancy coz I was little bit scared with their job placement procedures. I also didn't want to do asylum coz I was never attacked by maoist in Nepal.So, I had army as my another option and I was grown up in Army family I always had interest joining army.And now I feel glad I joined .no regret at all. Never been deployed to afghanistan or Iraq.

Do they still take f1 students in the army ? Aba yo asylum ra consultancy ko fake resume ko kura Kaha baat aayo. If u r smart enough to be admitted to Stanford or mit, companies will hire u in your undergrad college even before you graduate. Aba bachna Nai Ho bhanne ta Manchhe le yeuta na yeuta baato ta khoji halcha ni. Yaha moti gori, hapsi, bachako ama bihe garera, or nakali maobadi pidit banera kagaz nikalne pani kati chan. Yedi sushant bhai america chirna matrai chaheko ho bhane ta thikai cha, tara Padera ramro subject ma ramro college baat bachelors and masters garna chaheko ho bhane, na aau bhaneko ho. Yaha maile community college ma life waste gari raheko dherai dekheko chu (not me !!!).

@Sushant bro, looks like you are already on the way. I suggest to come prepared to face the reality, as others mentioned. Come prepared for the worst cases. It's not always the place that is bad, different people come with different background hence different struggles. Schools here are definitely worth a try if you are really into studies and not just excited because of what you see in Facebook, Hollywood impressions etc. Come here. Study hard. Work hard. Chill. Be independent; whatever that means. If you stay in Nepal for 4-6 years at your age, someone mentioned undergrad, you will get sucked forever. The age you are on right now is the defining age for what next in your career. If you spend next 4-6 years in Nepal you might not even want to come here after-all. Undergrad time sets a different kind of attachment to the place / people you live on/with. There is always option to go back to Nepal but most do not go that path which I never understood why, dumbfuck is exception, and I hope to meet him when I get back in few years.

@200times_ I have many friends who joined US army. 90% of them did not finish their undergrad, were suffering economically or with their lives. 10% had degrees but either could not land a job or could not convince their employer to sponsor for H1B or GC. While I firmly believe that not everyone has guts to join army, but I also believe that those Nepalese students who joined army did it just to make their life easy (took the easiest route in my personal opinion for immigration benefit). I personally have nothing against those who joined army, but again I do not have any respect for them either (I know probably neither you or I give a shit about this). So in my personal opinion if you can take the easiest route by joining army than SUSHANT can also take the easier route by coming here for master degree. Just my 2 cents.
