========================================================= The South Asian Arts Collective, a primarily undergraduate organization, which runs the South Asian literary magazine (formerly known as Shakti, now named Kala) and Bharatnatyam classes for the Yale community, is coordinating a weekend of South Asian dance "Yale Naatch" on February 22nd and 23rd. Yale Naatch consists of: 1. A performance in the Off Broadway Theater Space at 7pm on February 22nd by two professional dance companies: the Nayikas Dance Theater Company, an Odissi-based dance group from New York (www.nayikas.org) and Sangita Shresthova and her company. Sangita's work collages Nepal's diverse performance traditions, media projections and other dance forms. She is currently a graduate student in Comparative Media studies at MIT. 2. An Odissi workshop by Myna Mukherjee, choreographer and artistic director of the Nayikas, on Saturday, February 22nd, at 2pm in the Off-Broadway Theater; 3. A workshop on Bollywood dance and its relation to South Asian folk dance traditions, classical methods of movement, and the legacy of the Hollywood musical, by Sangita Shreshtova on Sunday, February 23rd, at 2pm in the Off- Broadway Theater.
