Hello, Ya, I used to think, civil engineering might be old engineering and there might not be lot of oppertunities in USA, ya, definitely, USA is for all subjects, Civil Engineering is also good. In terms of job perspective, it is almost same as other engineering but pay might be little bit less in start. But the thing is challenge is same every where, I worked one yeare in really respected company, 500 furtune and really good place but no job now, so it is USA, every thing is possible. Again to your question, civil engineer equally had oppertunities. Finally, life and success depends on your luck, your time, your generation and --------. Best of luck

Check out some state government departments like Dept. of Water Resources or natural Resources. From my research, now a days these kinda jobs are more in Sacremento, CA. Hope it helps. Good Luck.
