He just asked for 3yrs period to bring peace to the country and bring criminals to justice and nonetheless promised fair democratic election. But due to ur so called Intellectual Democratic leader's  one of their good character (leg pulling) didn't wanted to see good things happenings, and joined hands with the terrorist  {sorry good terrorist (might be for u)}  and created a havoc to country and let people suffer. Making  people suffer has always been their (Intellectual Democratic leaders) weapon to do their dirty politics.
Democracy is for the people not for the people to suffer (As far as I know) but for our Country's context may be just for politicians.
Regarding the people's strength;
These leaders tried all they cud to create havoc during that period but they failed becoz ur so called people strength were not with them becoz people 've already seen, known and been through their true colour. It all went in vain. At last killing their own dignity they joined hands with the Maoists becoz they knew maoists have the people (brain washed innocent people) to play with.
So don't ask for courage and morality to king, instead ask ur leaders.
Ask ur leaders if they have any shame and morality left, stop playing dirty games and focus on something good for the people.

How come, even you imagined, I believed there should be any form of monarchy.

Britains would not have adopted any form of monachry, had they had to choose it now. They set up contituitional monarchy at a time when the monarchism had some relevancy. It is a matter of long time before in the dim and distance. Don't talk about 18th/19th century.   

Second, the main stem of the monarchism in Nepal has already been destroyed in 2059BS. Whatever it is now is just the trench. The present king is just enjoying "Aputali", in typical Nepali word.

Third, wherever kings have shown political ambitions, there is unrest and instability. See the recent example of Thailand. Has King ever apologized for his political ambitions and took responsibilities for the consequences out of that. Shouldn't he be accountantable toward people? Had he promised before the people that he would never commit such mistake?Why did he put political leaders in Jail? Had Narahari Acharya, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Krishna Pahadi .....committed crime? (Do you see any political leaders in Jail now? This is what Democracy is. Even mandaley like Kamal Thapa is not in jail, can you imagine this in royal regime? No way)
