Birbhadra, No you don't..see this country wants to kick the "Illegals" out on the one hand but on the other they have a "fast track" program for children of illegal parents who can join the ROTC/army and can get Permanent Resident status after serving a couple of years in the army...there's a reason the massive recruiting drive by the army is currently taking places in largely African-American/Immigrant communities. Refer to the thread on immigration in Samudaya (I think you posted on that as well) `"Kripalu" Phatte and the rest of you Nepalese in the U.S Army--Good luck..and please try and stay safe! :-) I know it's a difficult life and the stress is horrendous.

nepaali i am confused so why don't all the mexicans try to join the military? there are so many illegal children here. is there a age limit or what ? or do they have to be legal and only their parents illegal. please calrify. i have a lot of mexican friends who are illegal or have illegal cousins attending high school. they are basically can't do anything after they graduate high school

Birbhadra, The children of illegal parents are eligible to enlist in the armed forces but as Phatte said, there are a bunch of hoops that they have to go through: Physical, Criminal and Background checks being the major part. There are a whole bunch of disqualification factors that range from former gang membership to too many tattoos (although I believe the army is willing to relax their requirements on the number of "body art" allowed for recruits to replenish the ranks) I don't know what the current state of affairs is but the DREAM Act which was tabled a while back was geared towards the children of illegal or legal status pending parents. What the act allowed was for children who had grwon up and completed high school in the U.S and possessed "good moral character" were pout on a fast track to Permanent Residency if they completed a certain number of years in Military Service i.e. those enlisting did not have to be Permanent Residents as long as they met the listed criteria: http://www.nilc.org/immlawpolicy/DREAM/DREAM%20Judiciary%20Sumry_040504.pdf Check the above link- it has the entire wording and analysis of the DREAM Act.

Really do you mean i can join the army. i am a full time f1 student. so you mean i can join the us army. i don't mind joining cause i am son of Gurkha. all my relatives are in UK army or S'pore Police. Even all my friends joined the Uk army. I knew some of them are staioned in Iraq. I grew up in Gurkha camp and so used to military rules and lifestyles. going to iraq would be adventure for me dudes. not afraid of dying. why should i. Cause sooner or later we all gonna die anyway. it's matter of how you live. i wished i could join the US army. I would definetely apply. But i don't have green card yet. I can surely fit into SEALS ,Green Beret or the Army Rangers cause my blood is of GURKHAS.

Joining US army would definetely would be great !! Too bad, I am in UK. Like Bornfree, I have many of my relatives and friends as Lahure serving both in UK and Singapore. In fact my father and brother in-law is still in service in Singapore and my younger brothr in UK. Both my grandfather, were also in the force too. khaobaadi, why are you asking Bornfree too join maoist ? Having grown in a environment where everything was so regimental, I think we bhanjas are definitely best suited.I know that many of the people have this perception that we bhanjas are pampered but in reality we are not. Beside we also have no problem embracing changes, communicating and so on. I would love to kick ass !!! Regards, Hos ra jos bhayeko Rai !!!

Let's join the US Army, so we can fight to throw Gyane regime and Maoist. Hope one day the US gov. will go after Nepali dictator, the most contemporary wanted killer, who enjoy killing numerous people (Mera pyara Desbashi haru, as his word). The World is for peace loving people, and people always need to live with their identity, so every one must be liberalize and achieve the Freedom and its rights. It is why there is no doubt, one day people of the Globe will liberalize and achieve sweet of freedom, there will be saying the DICTATORSHIP of so called which bird's name.
