Am I the only bahun getting tired of anti-bahun sentiments that seem to run rampant among other groups? I don't know even one developed country that is as heterogeneous as Nepal. Homogeneity is one of the key ingredients for a country to develop. It is becoming more and more obvious to me that Nepal will always be a backward cesspool unless we do something about this diversity issue we are facing. The only successful diverse country is the United States. Along with the fact that the puritans who built this country from scratch were a hard working bunch, America has a strong constitution to enforce laws in the country. How many countries can achieve such a feat? The answer is this:nobody can. Afghanistan had a civil war in the past because of their ethnic problem. The Taliban was essentially a Pashtun force. Iraq is now at the brink of a civil war. As we all know, the problem stems from the fact that Sunnis and Shias are not getting along.
Having thus established that historically speaking, there has been no diverse country that has managed to pull itself up its bootstraps, it seems blatantly obvious to me that the best resolution of this quandary would be to split the country into pieces. How much land an ethnic group receives will be commensurate with the population of the ethnic group.
1) Bahuns/Chettris: We get approximately 40% of the land as we make approximately 40% of the population.
2) Sherpas: They can join their Tibetan brethren.
3) Magars/Gurungs/Rais/Tamangs and other lookalikes: Now this is a very heterogeneous group. It's obvious that they can't live together. So each of them can have a piece of their own land. For example, Magars, who make about 10% of the population(the largest of the group) can have about 10% of the land. As for all you bahunized janjatis who speak nothing but Nepal, I feel so sorry for you. You will have to learn langugages that are totally for to you. Aww, to bad, that's the price you pay for embracing bahun/chettri culture.
4) Newars: You can keep Kathmandu
5) Ranas/Thakuris: Pack your bags and off to England you are exiled. You pricks.
6) Madhesis: Join India.

Now this is a very serious subject. I am not joking. It's obvious that Nepal is gonna implode soon. It is bound to happen. It is an inevitability. A huge ethnic conflict will erupt soon enough.

(Baburam and Prachanda can go live with Magars. You antibahun A$$holes)

Thugged out jee I am also tired of anti bahun sentiments brought by some janajati. Jathaharu padhnu chhaina, Mihinet garnu chhaina, gundagardi gardai hide ani ahile anti bahun ko kura garchhan. Your data is somewhat wrong to my knowledge. Here is the data:
Bahun, kshetri, thakuri, giri, sanyasi, kumai, dalit(Indoaryan of hill origin who speak Nepali as mother tongue)---57%
Madhise of Indo aryan origin who speak maithili, bhojpuri etc as mother tongue-15%
Tharu-6%
Magar-5%
Tamang-5%
Newar-4%
Gurung 3%
Rai-2%
Limbu-1%
sherpa, thakali and other ethnic group of hill and aborginal people of Terai-2%.

If we split the country, madhise of Indoaryan origin(where also bahun and rajpoot are predominanat) take most of the land. Then comes tharu and magar. I want to ask you all Janjati --can you exist without us? Of course madhise can exist without us. But they are not so much against withBahun.

Baburam and prachanda are taking advantage of magar's nature who are believed to be the most LIDE ethnic group in Nepali. According to some Budhapaka a magar is so lide that he will not stop firing even if his leg is chopped off. Once Baburam and prachanda is in power they will definitely show their d**k to magar if they demand local government of Magar which is the maoists main agenda today.

Baburam has a nyarni wife with half nyar children. You make some good points. Baburam has very high IQ. He knows how to exploit people for his own goals. He is flaming the fans of hatred by making us bahuns look like we're all guilty( I don't know what I've done, but I'm guilty by default because I happen to be a bahun). I am sick and tired of being scapegoated just because I happen to be born a bahun.
I essentially believe that we can live with madhesis. If that's the case then, bahuns+chettris+madhesis combined will have population in the upwards of 70%. I am not the type of guy who likes to stereotype people, but clearly, Magars seem to be some of the most gullible people I have ever come across, bar none. There is nothing positive about gullibility, sorry.

Sorry, but I cannot live with Thakuris. They are a bunch of scumbags. I especially hate Ranas. I despise them. I abhor them with a passion.

Yes Thugged out Jee we can stay together with madhise. Maobadi has all bahun and kshetri and madhise in their heigher rank like mahara, rayamajhi, janardan sharma etc. except Badal and dev Gurung. How do janjati think that they will get their local government if Maobadi is in power as even now they have no good position. Baburam and prachanda are very clever to use Magar and Gurung as rubber stamp.

You Thugged Out and DRKoirala both need to go to the bathroom to puke it seems but please do not defile Sajha with your racist remarks.

I myself do not identify myself with any religion or caste. But for the record, I was born in a Hindu family that was Bahun. You sh*tty remarks makes me embarassed that my family members belong to the same ethnic group that you idiots seem to - however wrongly- represent.

Both of you need to go and find something better to do.

Peace

Thugged out,

Your post above is interesting in that you say Nepal will always remain a cesspool because of the antiquated thoughts of people..you envision a society that has succeeded with diversity and then go on to make comments saying "Sherpa can join their Tibetan brethren" and "Magars, Gurungs, Rais, Tamangs and other look alikes"...you are doing a pretty darn good job of contributing to that very cess pool which only seconds ago, you derided.

As for the U.S being a beacon of diversity - what about the inner cities and Katrina? If you think that the lack of response to Katrina was not due to racial bias on the part of the Federal government - there's an obvious point you are missing. In addition, let's not forget that there is still very much a culture of Institutionalized Racism against Immigrants and people of colour, so no, America is not a beacon of diversity as you seem to believe it is.

If you want to effectuate change in the way people think and bring about a successful integration of diveristy into Nepali society--you certainly aren't going about it the right way.

As a Bahun, your sentiments may have been hurt to read other threads that admittedly are becomming more frequent on Sajha..but..is the only response to add fuel to the fire by making the glaring generalizations that you have made above.

As for you Mr. Koirala, the less said about your comments on the "lida Magars", the better.

Nepaali
what i am not understanding is that all ethnic group and newar call Bahun chor, fataha etc. We bahun people just tolerate it. But If we make a small comment about them why will they explode?

"As for the U.S being a beacon of diversity - what about the inner cities and Katrina?"

If you had only two choices: where would you prefer to live: in a remote location in Nepal or in an American ghettos? The answer is obvious of course. America's inner cities might be bad in comparison to some places in America, but it is better than any places in an underdeveloped country by LEAPS AND BOUNDS. As to Katrina, remember the aftermath of the Tsunami in places like Indonesia and Thailand? Hundreds of thousands of people died. Katrina killed only a thousand. A big number, but compared to earthquakes in India or Iran, Tsunami in China, etc, the American government did a PRETTY GOOD JOB!

" addition, let's not forget that there is still very much a culture of Institutionalized Racism against Immigrants and people of colour, so no, America is not a beacon of diversity as you seem to believe it is"

Yes, if you always look at yourself as a victim, you're not gonna succeed in America. Compared to the 1960's, America is a much better place with much less racism. Listen buddy, your whole argument has a big hole through which I could drive a truck. America is a country founded by immigrants. While it's past is full of bloodshed, that episode belongs in the ash heap of history. America is a history of diversity. It is not a melting pot, but a salad bowl. People don't mix, but people are doing pretty good in America. Why do immigrants come to America in droves if there is nothing attractive about America?

Chop me off for what, gaywad? Magars already want autonomy. Newars want to make Newari the national language of Nepal. If you don't see that we're all divided already, you must have your head in the sand. It's obvious that there will be a big civil war already. I care for my people. I don't want anything to happen to them. That's all.

Mr Koirala,

The point I was trying to make is that adding fuel to the fire is certainly not going to help. Maybe it's becuase I shun any kind of unnecessary aggression; besides, there is a point to the comments from many that as bahuns, we have always been at a distinct advantage. Perhaps, acknowledging that advantage and realizing that it was given to the Bhauns at the cost of the Rai's, Magar's, Limbus etc behoves us to work to get the rest of Nepali soceity to the point that the Bahuns presently occupy...not continue to tear them down.

Thugged out,

I don't think asserting the obvious--about the Instutionalized Racisim in America means I see myself as a victim. As for the big hole in my argument that you can supposeldy drive a truck through is concerned, if you are determined to do so...I'm certainly not going to stand in the way.
Comparing the response to Katrina to that which the Tsunami recieved is comparaing apples to oranges..the point I made was not reagrding the difference in death toll rather it was about the lack of response to the destruction of predominantly African American areas in New Orleans.
I never made the argument that living in Nepal would be far esier than living in the U.S...so I am at a loss as to why you make that point - it has no relevance to the issue of ethnic diversity at hand.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. Why hatred? Let's just ponder over the issues Thugged Out Ji, and Koriala Ji raised and seeif Bahuns are indded being unfairly portrayed as the "Chors and Fatahas". It is always easy to blame the majority for any wrong doing.....Its time for the minority to take their share of responsibility as well.......

As far of diving the country,,,,I digress...
