Dear Sajhaiest,

I am flying for Kathmandu next Saturday. I am very confused on the size and number of hand luggage they allow to carry. I heard that due to recent London's incident they allow a hand carry only little bigger than the size of laptop case. I am also carrying a laptop. Is it included in hand carry?

Pls. share your knowledge.

thanks

I flew from london last week. I was not allowed any sharp material, any Cans or spray cans (Not even perfume), nor my shaving reser, No lighter, match and so. I saw few people carring laptop so I presume that it is allowed. I had a hand luggage size of a school bag perhaps a little larger.
But I am sorry I cannot give you the excat size of hand luggage they allow, coz I am not sure, you could ask the airport or the british embassy in Kathmandu to be absulute sure.

smag, where are you flying from?

A lot of places including the US, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Australia still allow regular size carry-ons, but no liquids or gels.

The new size restrictions are only on flights to and from the UK.

Have a good trip smag.

Keep in mind that the "no gels and liquids in carry-on" is somewhat subject to interpretation. Last week, boarding a Frankfurt to Boston flight I had my travel toothpaste as well as my yellow highlighter, 2 felt markers and a sharpie pen confiscated for having liquid inside, (but was allowed to keep rollerball pens)...

Perfumes in luggage should not create problems with security - although, but they might with customs in Nepal ... he he.

These days I'd carry all toiletaries in checked baggage.
