EveryOne will say its easy but no one will give you the properly guidance to fill out the form.(at least not to me). Suggestion will be something like "fill out(I 130 , I 485), its easy and there is another form i forgot i will let u know or you can use uscis website  there is all the instruction  u need."  I did fill out the forms  but I did  get not  the mental peace. So if this is your first time( which basically is) i suggest use lawyer and later if need to apply for  your family or relative u can do  yourself. Just my 2 cents....

Filing USCIS forms are easier once you read the instructions. Download instructions for each forms (offcourse those which you need) from USCIS website and read them. If you want to save some money, YES read them CAREFULLY.  Explore some good immigration forums and post your questions too. One of the forums:

http://forums.immigration.com/forum.php

If you still have problems, email me and I might be able to guide you through.

Good Luck!

( I am not a lawyer, I am willing to help as I have gone through this process)

Yes you have to mail all the necessary documents with correct fees.(money oreder/cheque).
Instead of filing i-130 seperately, why dont you file i-485, i-765, i-864 together. For alien no: u can write N/A. I Hope that helps.

When naturalized citizen files I-130 for sponsoring sibling, does any one knows what should they put for Alien number section in I-130. Do they put the same alien number they had in their permanent resident card earlier or they just put N/A?

NAMESTHEA SIR - Sorry if I may ask - Are you a Citizen or green card holder? I130 - shouldn't be that hard to do it by yourself. I did it myself and helped many of my friends as well, never had a problem. Why spend money on lawyers. You wait for I130 to be approved, then you do the rest of the forms when you are asked to file. Which state are you at? Look at USCIS website and check your state and where to file. Yes you mail them, BUT BUT Keep a copy of each page or documents you mail them, they tend to ask you to send the same paper sometime to make sure you didn't mess up! You have questions, please don't hesitate to ask or click on my name and email me! --------------------- hariyo - is that for your side of the form or for your sibling? if for sibling side - NA

Sanug, in sibling side its N/A, but how about the petitioner side of I-130, do we put our earlier alien registeration number(when we  were in gc) or in our side also we put N/A?

 Namesthea Sir,
Are you a citizen or a Green Card (GC) holder? Is your wife in US or outside US?

My answers are based on: YOU ARE A GC HOLDER.
1. Yes, You file I-130.
2. You need to file G-325A for you and another G-325A for your spouse. Forms can be downloaded from here:
http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/g-325a.pdf
3. Alien (A) number for you is the one you have in your Green card. Write NONE in A-number for your spouse ( if she has never received A- number from USCIS before)
4. Forms should be mailed to appropriate USCIS. Priority date is current for spouse of Green card holder this August. So, you MIGHT be able to file all forms including I-485 together. we can confirm this together.
5. Better to use Money order instead of check ( you don't have to worry about insufficient funds or if check bounces back by some means). For more info refer this instruction ( I hope you already did):
 http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-130instr.pdf

I hope these help to start. Let me repeat what I said earlier, if you want to file yourself, you need to explore forums, atleast the one I mentioned in my earlier post.

 Namesthea Sir,
Is your spouse in US?

The forms you need are I-130, I-485, I-864, I-765 and I-131( if you wish to travel while your case is pending. You don't have to pay any fees for I-765 when you are filing this form with I-485. So, you pay $420 for I-130 and $1070 for I-485. Yes, you can total all the fees and make money order. I think you can make one money order worth 500 dollars only. So, you will have three money orders though. And, no fees are required later on.

I have seen A# as alien number in green card. I believe your USCIS# is alien number. Priority date is current in August means you need to file your application within August. Make sure USCIS opens your package in August, so send few days in advance. Yes, you can use a sponsor, if your income doesn't meet the poverty line.

Namesthea sir, you need to submit I-693 form( medical records). Actually, uscis approved surgeon will fill up this form for you. Make an appointment at your nearby uscis surgeon's location.
As far as i know, those are all the forms you need to fill up. But keep in mind, if your spouse is in nepal, there is a different process to apply.

Yes, as laptop mentioned, you also need to file I-693 (completed and sealed by a civil sergeon who is desinated by USCIS) which goes with I-485 package. You should only file I-130 first if your spouse is in Nepal. Once I-130 is approved, the US consulate will contact your spouse for further processing.

NAMESTHEA SIR, 0n number 14, there should be a date on greencard ((( since when u became a permanent resident)))). Ur greencard category ((should be listed on a greencard)))and which uscis office approved ur application.

Bityojiban, for family size of 2 , I beleive the required income is $18,912. If your spouse earned that much money last year and if he is currently employed, you are good to go.

 Namaste Laptop,

My spouse started to work only from April 2013 with this employer. He didn't work much last year. I used to make 80 K last two years and jointly filed the tax in March. can i still show our joint tax file? or i must need a co-sponsor because my spouse earnings was below 15,000 in 2012. Thank you for reply.

Bityo Jiban,

The sponsor's CURRENT INCOME is what matters while filing I-864. Current Annual income of your spouse should be above $ 19,387 for a household size of two (125% poverty guidelines, as per USCIS). See the link for more details. Income of previous years do not supplement to meet poverty guidelines, to my knowledge.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

If you are still employed, you can add your income to your spouse to meet the poverty guidelines. But, your job should be like a "permanent" one type and this job should continue once your application is received or once your get an EAD card to continue your work.

Alternately, You can use your (sponsor's) asset to meet the annual income deficit. If your spouse is sponsoring you: $5 bank balance compensates $1 annual income deficit, if your spouse is a permanent resident OR

$3 compensates $1 annual income deficit, if your spouse is a citizen.

What I mean is, for example: If your spouse has $15,000 bank deposits as for today,  this balance can be added to her regular annual income from her job, to meet the poverty guidelines. $15,000 bank balance corresponds to $3,000 annual income for a permanent resident OR, $5,000 if the spouse is a citizen. Hope this helps.

My advice: Do not try to borrow money from friends/relatives for a short period of time to show the bank balance. I hope you have heard the case of Kansas recently. If you do not have sufficient annual income and/or sufficient bank balance, you better find a sponsor.

(IMPORTANT: I am NOT a lawyer, I am a layman like you. These are my personal opinions and should not be used as legal advice)
