I am starting to think that Oli may have done a geopolitical miscalculation by picking Ishwor Pokharel over Subash Nemang for the senior vice president of the UML. Nepal is known for the Himalayas and the brave "gurkhas". Nemang being from the "gurkha" community could have weilded more political power internationally. It is just politics nothing personal. Just like why Biden picked Kamala Harris for VP. Plain politics. As they say "blood is thicker than water". And, Gurkhas have given blood for India and the Britain. Ishwor Pokharel may bring more political power domestically. Please feel free to share your thoughts.

Your analysis is incomplete to say the least. If what you said was true, most of the top leaders of major parties will not be khas Brahmins and chhettris. Also you are being myopic by only considering janajatis by your term “Gurkhas” and Himalayas. Of course they need to be included but what about the Dalits? Shouldn’t they be in high posts too? What an irony that those who consider themselves to be marginalized don’t see double standard in marginalizing others.

@bairagi I agree that I lack the depth in politics, but what do you think about former king Gyanendra Shah? He moved away from his "chettri" clans to Rajendra Lingden for the RPP's president. I would think he and his team know politics for sure. @chicagoan sorry, my view is only based on international general perspective of Nepal by common people. There are many other political issues as you mentioned. @ ujl oops thank you for pointing out.
